Ekoloji , 2012,
Abstract: The aim of this study was to carry out a systematic investigation of the adsoption of 137Cs on to Kaoliniteclay mineral from Balikesir region which is west of Turkey. The adsorption behavior of kaolinite mineralwas studied by means of a batch method using 137Cs as a radio tracer. Experiments were carried out for claysize of 30.00 μm and six different initial concentrations of 137Cs. In experiments, solid/ liquid ratio andcontact time were determined to be 250 mL/g and 60 minutes, respectively. Adsorption percent (Ads%) anddistribution coefficient (Kd) values were calculated according to the adsorption experiment results. AfterLangmuir Isotherm was applied, the clay adsorption capacity was calculated using Least Squares Method. Itwas observed that Ads% and Kd values decreased with increasing the liquid phase concentrations rangingfrom 1.68x10-4 M to 5.88x10-4 M. The constants depending on adsorption energy (b), adsorption capacity(Xm), and removal efficiency (R) were determined to be 17.56×103 mg/kg, 0.038 L/g and 93%, respectively.Kaolinite was found to be having both a good adsorption capacity and a rapid adsorption rate for 137Cs.
The Acute Effect of ArmVibration on Eye-Hand Coordination Performance in Youth  [PDF]

Advances in Physical Education (APE) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/ape.2016.62016
Abstract: This study examined the impact of acute arm vibration exercises on hand-eye coordination performance in youths. The subject consisted of 24 male university students. Four sets of Double Hand-Eye Coordination Test (DHECT) were conducted on all participants by performing 60 sec vibration exercises at intervals. After 1-wk, the DHECT (providing 10 sec rest time in between) was performed again on the same participants (control) with four sets at intervals without the vibration application. DHECT results were recorded after both applications. According to the result of repeated measure of ANOVA, DHECT significant improvement was found depending on time measurements with vibration (p = 0.00), a significant improvement was not found depending on time in measurements without vibration (p = 0.17).
HOUSEHOLD PROTECTION AGAINST DENGUE HEMORRHAGIC FEVER EPIDEMICS IN COASTAL CITY OF MAKASSAR

Journal of Coastal Development , 2010,
Abstract: The skill of two simple models for predicting Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) epidemics in a coastalcity of Makassar was evaluated. One model uses persistence while the other uses past dengue cases andclimate factors to make predictions. It was shown that the skill of the models was not significantlydifferent. The value of the prediction was also investigated when it was used for deciding whether or notto protect a household from epidemics. When the model predicts that a DHF epidemic was forthcoming,a highly effective but low-cost DEET product was applied to the whole family as protection againstmosquito bites. It was found that the cost of implementing such model prediction was much cheaperthan other options such as: (i) using protection without any forecast and, (ii) neglecting any protection. It was also found that the value of a forecast depends on forecast skill and the cost-to-loss ratio.

Dicle Medical Journal , 2011,
Abstract: Conventional transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) is one of the minimally invasive methods used for the diagnosis of intrathoracic lymphadenopathies, which is an effective, safe and cheap bronchoscopic technique. Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) guided TBNA is one of the most important advances in pneumology in recent years and has extended the diagnostic spectrum of bronchoscopic techniques. Today there are two different types of ultrasound probes for use with EBUS: radial and convex. The most important advantage of convex probe EBUS is that it allows real-time imaging while sample taken. To increase the diagnostic success, expansion of both conventional and ultrasound guided TBNA applications may reduce the need for invasive surgical procedures.

Abstract: ?anakkale jugs are the liquid substance containers that have been produced since the mid 19th century. They vary greatly in form. They are usually grouped according to their appearance. However, among the ?anakkale ceramics, jugs are in the form of puzzle ceramic drink containers that differ from the others in terms of the system of shaping and use. The puzzle ceramic drink containers used to make jokes, to make surprise and fun for the drinkers. Since the end of the 13th century, it has been produced in Germany, Holland, Italy, France, many other European countries and China as jugs, jugs, cups. In this study, ?anakkale jugs produced in the working principle of the cups, also called Pythagorean cups, were discussed. As in the Pythagorean cups, it is a part of the puzzle how much of the ?anakkale jugs should be filled discussed in the study. In this study, it is aimed to introduce puzzle jugs from rare samples produced in ?anakkale and to create awareness about ?anakkale ceramics through different samples. Information about the subject was obtained from the written sources on ?anakkale ceramics and the researches in related archeology museum

Abstract: Museums are places where the memory of communities is preserved, shared and passed on to future generations. Ceramics is one of the most important sources of information in the pursuit of traces. Nowadays, there are museums, collections consist of only ceramics, except for museums where traditional or contemporary works are exhibited, with archaeological finds from all areas including ceramics. Although these collections are based on local, regional or world traditional ceramics, they give place to contemporary ceramics especially. In this study; with regard to examples of ceramic museums collections of local, regional or general ceramics, Ceramic Museum Keramion, Raeren Ceramic Museum, International Faenza Ceramic Museum and Düsseldorff Hetjens Ceramic Museum were introduced. In the museums where the world ceramics history is reflected, it is seen that thousands of years of archeological finds of Anatolian origin, as well as traditional Iznik, Kütahya and ?anakkale ceramics were exhibited. Purpose of the study; Our aim is to raise our awareness of establishing ceramic museums in which we exhibit contemporary works of national and international artists, as well as our traditional ceramics, as in the case of overseas examples. The mentioned museums and the exhibits were examined on the site. The spaces and collections of museums were tried to be reflected by the visuals used. Information about the subject has been supported with related books, articles, catalogs and internet resources

Journal of Modern Physics (JMP) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/jmp.2011.24034
Abstract: In this study, the optical transmittance of aligned nematic liquid crystals (ANLCs) was investigated in terms of temperature variations through electrooptic effects under DC electric field. The optical transmittances of the planar and homeotropically aligned liquid crystal cells, which were prepared by conventional rubbing and photolithographic technique on the polyimide thin films for molecular alignment, were measured in their phase transition region. The results of measurement for both orientations, the distribution curve of the optical transmittance exhibits displacement toward to low level at the beginning and then to high level by the temperature variations, while the electric field increases. It was also observed that the domain structure of the materials were affected considerably by the applied electric field and phase transition region of the aligned structures had broader range than by the pure crystalline structure and its phase transition temperature was changed by the molecular anisotropy. Finally, in photolithographic method strong bonds between the molecules and the orienting surface were observed in high contrast to rubbing method.

Abstract: Mirza Gulam Ahmad shaped Ahmadiyya around his own charisma. This charisma continued in the movement after his death in a very clear way, too. Undoubtedly, there is a great influence of Mirza Gulam Ahmed on this approach, declaring as a separate community his Movement which he founded from other Muslims. As a matter of fact, it has led to the formation of a serious “Ahmad? consciousness” among the Movement members. This consciousness, especially owned by the Qadiyan? Ahmad?s, mediated the Ahmad?s to accept their founders as an inspirer not only in religious affairs, but also in social, cultural and other worldly matters. The fact that Lahore Ahmad?s did not exhibit closed features and continued their relations with Muslims was one of the reasons of the transformation in their Mirza Gulam Ahmad's perceptions. In this article, some socio-cultural practices of Mirza Gulam Ahmed, followed by Ahmadis, will be examined
